Merilampi represented Sweco Industry Oy in negotiations relating to an EPCM agreement concerning a lithium plant to be built by Keliber Oy in Central Ostrobothnia, Finland.
The agreement was signed on 1 March 2021. Sweco will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction management for the project.
The endeavor is one of the most significant battery chemical projects in Europe, answering the growing demand for lithium as a result of increasing digitalization and electrification of transportation. Keliber’s aim is to start production of lithium hydroxide at the facilities in 2024.
